Baby Girl Album

Creating the perfect homemade baby album can be done with materials at hand especially if you're an avid scrapper. The base is chipboard, which you can buy in bulk at 12x12 size and cut it down to 6x6 OR use any cardboard you have around the house.

For this album I used a kit which includes papers, embellishments, etc, and had colors for girl, boy, or unknown. (There was enough papers that two albums can be made). Some parents like to know what they're having, and some are trending back to waiting until the baby is born to find out the sex. That will have a bearing on what you make. My kids choose to wait, so I tend to make what I call "bi-sexual" albums. (work with me here) lol!

I also tailor it to the baby's colors the parents are using for the baby's room.

Using stamps that prompt the parents to write down details keeps them from overthinking, i.e, baby's name, weight, length. If you make a lot of albums reusing stamps saves you money by allowing undetermined reuse of said stamps. Having a die cut machine also is a cost saver (after the initial purchase of machine and dies) because not only can you reuse the die, BUT you can create embellishments that go perfectly with your papers.

Punches, buttons, ribbons, flowers are all embellishments that can be used on the pages. Yes, I even use flowers on boy albums and pages. Gasp. I know. However, they're young enough to pull it off.

I keep the pages limited, again not wanting to overwhelm the new mom. A welcome page, one with the parents, maybe throw grandparents in there. If you don't know the dynamics of the family you can keep it generic with pocket pages and tags. Tucking pictures in the pockets and adding journaling to the tags is easy and stress free for the new mom.

Then there's the going home page, which if your babies are like mine, they're crying while your trying to dress them in the cute little outfit purchased for the occassion.

Which is the perfect beginning.
